Bra Cup Guide

How to Start OEM ODM Bra Cup Cooperation

What OEM and ODM Mean for Bra Cups

When lingerie and swimwear brands talk about working with a cup maker, the terms usually fall into two models. OEM means you bring the design and specifications, and the factory produces to them. ODM means the factory contributes its own mold library and engineering input, and you select or adapt an existing solution. For molded PU foam bra cups, the difference mostly shows up at the start: OEM begins with your drawing or reference cup, while ODM often begins by matching you to one of thousands of ready molds.

At Senfeng we focus on PU foam molded cups produced by traditional heat-press forming. We hold more than 2000 existing molds, which lets many ODM projects skip the tooling wait entirely. Understanding which model fits your situation is the first step toward a fast, low-risk launch.

Step 1: Prepare a Clear Specification

Before any mold turns, write down what the cup must do. A useful spec sheet covers:

  • Cup type and profile – push-up, padded, wireless, nursing, swim, or a specific shallow, demi, or full shape.
  • Foam spec – our standard PU foam runs at density 25 to 30 kg/m3 and ILD 28 to 35, with 4-grade yellowing resistance. State your required window.
  • Size range – note that letter cup sizes are not universal across US, UK, EU, and JP markets; always pair sizes with a mold number and a sealed sample.
  • Ventilation – we add airflow holes (1.5 to 2 mm, 6 to 12 per cup) by default at no extra charge unless you specify otherwise.
  • Color and yellowing grade – 4-grade yellowing resistance is our standard for export to sun-exposed markets.

Step 2: Share a Reference or Target

The fastest path is a physical reference cup, a technical sketch, or a clear “match this” sample. If you only have a finished garment, tell us whether you need a bare cup or a cup laminated with your own fabric – this decides whether the sample can be tried on at all. Missing this detail is one of the top reasons a first sample gets rejected.

Step 3: Choose the Mold Route

This is where our mold library pays off. If an existing mold already matches your shape, sample lead time is 1 to 2 days. If a new mold is required, it takes 3 to 7 days from spec lock – roughly 50 percent faster than the common industry window. These are bench hours after specifications are fixed; they exclude international shipping (typically another 3 to 7 days to Europe or North America) and your own review time. A detailed walkthrough of the sampling clock is in our inquiry-to-sample workflow guide.

Step 4: Confirm MOQ and Certification Needs

Our minimum order quantity is 500 pairs. During peak season we recommend locking capacity about 60 days ahead. At the same time, confirm the certifications your market requires. Senfeng holds OEKO-TEX Standard 100, GRS, and ISO 9001 – covering harmful-substance limits, recycled-content verification, and quality management respectively. These certifications support customs clearance into Europe and North America; they do not by themselves test yellowing, chlorine resistance, or foam hardness, so those properties are settled by the sealed sample.

Step 5: Build and Approve the Sealed Sample

A sealed sample is the reference both sides keep. Once approved, it defines acceptable density, hardness, shape, and finish for the whole order. We record the production parameters for each shift – mold number, foam batch, shift, and heat-press settings of 160 to 200 degrees C, 15 to 30 tonnes, and 8 to 15 seconds dwell – so the mass-produced cups follow the same process as the sample. Our sustained yield sits above 95 percent, and every batch is traceable.

Step 6: Production, QC, and Secured Export

During production we apply incoming checks on foam density and hardness against your spec; batches outside the agreed window are not released to the line. We do not operate our own laboratory or issue test reports – buyers may send materials to an accredited third-party lab, and we supply the material information needed. For export, our 8-year record shows zero bad debt, and orders are backed by Sinosure credit insurance, with payment typically by T/T (deposit plus balance against bill of lading copy).

A Note on What We Make

We specialize in PU foam molded cups. We do not produce memory foam or latex cups; if your project needs those, we can help connect you with suitable peers. We also avoid overstating automation – our strength is a deep mold library, disciplined per-shift recording, and a mature export process, not robotic inspection claims.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum order for OEM bra cups?

Our MOQ is 500 pairs per order. For new molds or peak-season slots, planning 60 days ahead protects your delivery window.

How fast can I get a sample?

From an existing mold, 1 to 2 days. For a new mold, 3 to 7 days of bench time after the spec is locked. International shipping adds roughly 3 to 7 days, and your own review time is separate.

Do you make memory foam cups?

No. We focus on PU foam molded cups. Memory foam and latex are industry topics we can explain, but they are not our products – we can help introduce peers if you need them.

Which certifications do you hold?

OEKO-TEX Standard 100, GRS (Global Recycled Standard), and ISO 9001. All three support export to Europe and North America.

How is payment secured for export orders?

We work on T/T terms with a deposit and balance against bill of lading copy, and orders are covered by Sinosure credit insurance. Our export record over 8 years shows zero bad debt.
